About Me
My name is Carlos van Gestel. I am currently living in Granada, Andalucia, Spain.
From a Dutch father and a Swedish mother, I was born and raised in the south of Spain. Who I am is the result of all these culture differences. I grew up in Marbella (Malaga), a city with a huge expat population. I have also lived for one year in Germany as an Erasmus student and I have been living in the Netherlands since 2013.
As a child I always wanted to be a doctor, but in high school I connected with philosophy, the use of reason and the mysteries of the mind. From that moment I decided that my path would be psychology.
While studying psychology you can have various professional options to choose from. I personally have always been certain that my vocation laid on individual therapy and that is what I have mainly focused my studies on.
In Spain I have obtained a Master Degree in Psychology by the University of Malaga. My studies where centered on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) but in my eagerness to expand my expertise I am also trained in Gestalt Therapy by the Nederlandse Stichting Gestalt.
