Gestalt therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach that, among others things, is centered in the interaction between the client and the therapist in the here and now, in the shared moment. Through the contact with one self and his body, in the sensations that arise, one can be aware and conscious of the mental, physical and emotional processes that take place at a given moment. One can discover what is triggering it, where is it coming from, what is its function and what does it mean. When one becomes aware of these aspects once can change what is not beneficial for that person anymore.
Every human being has a determined pattern of behavior, thoughts and emotional reactions towards certain stimuli and situations. Most of them are unconscious. All of them where necessary at a certain point of your life, but some of them become maladaptive.
My work will consist in helping you discover which one of those patterns has become negative for you, bring them into your awareness and, if you feel it’s what you need, adapt them or liberate yourself from them.
Although in Gestalt Therapy we mainly focus in the here and now, at what is present in your life in this moment, this does not mean we will be avoiding the past or ignoring the future. In Gestalt Therapy we will frequently explore how past events continue to manifest and have an impact on your life in the present moment.
We will also explore the future, looking at what are your needs in the here and now. If someone can feel what he needs now, he can take action to achieve those needs in the future.
